New Testament Illustrations seeks to use only such illustrations as would uniquely illustrate certain passages of the New Testament. The book, when read in connection with Scripture, aims to occupy a vacant space in literature whereby the Scriptures may be easily understood with new interest and new insights. Around five hundred different authors are represented in this work, including: Charles Haddon Spurgeon, George Whitefield, Frederick Wilhelm Krummacher, T.L. Cuyler, and Stephen H. Tyng. The volume should prove to aid the minister in the pulpit, the teacher in the Sunday school class, and the believer in everyday social gatherings. Finally, as the compiler of the work, William Jones, says in the Preface, it is our hope that "this volume shall strengthen the weak, encourage the young, in the service of Christ, embolden the timid, establish the wavering, awaken the careless, and recover the deceived from the error of his way."
